Field Trip

We had the opportunity to visit the Great Platte River Road Archway in Kearney. We were able to go through the entire arch and listen to historic facts along the way. The students were excited to see the large exhibits and loved the technology that was used to make this a learning experience. After watching two reenactments, we were able to rest and eat lunch in the Archway cafeteria.

Our next stop was Kearney's Big Apple Fun Center. The kids learned the mechanics of bowling and were able to participate in two games before the afternoon came to an end.

It was definitely and enjoyable day out for everyone involved. Thanks Mr. Rohde for making all of the arrangements!

Edgerton Science Center

Our first field trip was to the Edgerton Science Center in Aurora. The students had a blast exploring the hands-on stations in "The Zone" and listened to two presentations (one on electricity and one on the strobe light). It was definitely a worthwhile and educational field trip! You never know what you are going to find tucked away in Nebraska! If you get the chance... you should go!

Scary Trees

We have quite a few artists in 3rd grade this year. Last Friday the kids created "Scary Trees" to help create an Autumn look in our hallway. They did a wonderful job, even if it was a little messy!

Soup Supper

Sandoz students were able to participate in the preparations for the Sandoz Soup Supper which is this coming Saturday. On Thursday, the third graders helped prepare enchilada sauce for casserole. It was quite the assembly line and they all contributed in opening, dumping, mixing, and cleaning. Thanks to the PTO for all the organizing and hope to see you at the soup supper!

A New Year!

It's hard to believe that school has been underway for an entire month! I would like to think that both the kids and I are adjusting to our new surroundings quite well. We have jumped right into every curriculum area and are hard at work! Check back often (hopefully we are able to update on a regular basis) and see what we are up to!
Enjoy!

Catching Up!

I love taking pictures of the kids and enjoy documenting all of the activities that we do throughout the school year. I am hoping that blogging will allow me to add pictures and comments about these activities for you to enjoy.

Since I just started this blog (last month of school... not the best timing!) I am going to try to post what I have saved on my computer from this last school year. I hope to continue this blog and keep it updated as the 09-10 school year gets under way.

Until then... enjoy the spring pictures from this year's KB.

The Chicks are Here!

I am sure many of you have heard that Sandoz KB is in the process of hatching chicks. The kids were so excited to see that 7 of them had already hatched when they arrived at school this morning! We have had 2 more hatch during school this morning and are waiting for them to dry so we can move them into their new home. Thought you might enjoy some pictures of our newest "classmates".

Learning how to hold chicks... gently!
Watching the newest chick hatch out of it's egg.
We love our new friends!
